Cheeky flower girl makes a run for it mid wedding ceremony
Wedding days are a celebration of love between bride and groom – but occasionally a member of the family can steal the show.
As Tom and Katie Quirk stood in front of their guests exchanging their vows in a ceremony overlooking Melbourne’s Albert Park Lake, a little fugitive decided to make a run for it.
Their young niece Chloe – also the flower girl for their special day - decided to make a dash for the water whilst everyone was engrossed in one of the most intimate moments of the ceremony.
“I was facing the direction Chloe was running from, but because I was looking at Tom all I saw was this flash of white all of a sudden in my peripheral vision,” Mrs Quirk told Daily Mail Australia.
“And then I saw my sister-in-law madly running past and I was like, "Did that really happen?"
As the camera pans out, the three-year-old girl - dressed in a white taffeta and holding the bouquet of flowers – enters the screen running directly in the sight of the crowd, who are watching through the large glass window overlooking the lake behind the couple.
Adding to the comical moment, the young toddler is in hot pursuit of her mother, who manages to stop her from diving into the lake.
“It will go down as probably one of the funniest moments anyone we know has witnessed at a wedding,” Mrs Quirk said.
“She was so well behaved beforehand and even as she walked down the aisle she was an angel, but I guess as kids that age do she began to get a bit restless.”
